How to play
Your ball moves forward on its own, in time with the music. Your only job: land it on every platform at the exact moment its note should be played.
Controls
| Action | Computer | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Jump | Space or click | Tap the screen |
| Jump higher | Hold Space | Keep your finger down |
| Bounce | Keep Space held when you land | Keep your finger down when you land |
| Pause | P | Pause button, top right |
| Ghost ball | G | In the options |
The held jump is the key to hard levels: a short press gives a small hop for a nearby platform, a long press sends the ball much higher to reach a high note. Bouncing lets you chain two jumps without letting go, which helps when notes come very fast.
Platforms and notes
Each platform shows the name of its note (for example A5 or C#6). Its height follows the melody: a higher note sits higher. When the ball lands on it, the platform plays its note on the piano (or a synth, depending on your settings). Miss a platform and its note stays silent: you literally hear your mistakes in the music.
Notes too close together to each have a platform become bonus notes, shaped like diamonds. You collect them by rolling or jumping through them. Depending on the difficulty, some of them play by themselves if you landed the previous platform.
Scoring
Every landing is judged on your timing:
- PERFECT: right on the beat, maximum points;
- GREAT: very close, slightly fewer points;
- OK: the note plays, but early or late.
Your combo counts successful landings in a row. Every 10 landings, your score multiplier goes up by 1, up to ×8. A fall resets the combo: consistency pays more than a few isolated perfect jumps.
Lives and the end of a level
You start with 3 lives. Every fall costs one and breaks your combo; a rescue platform appears right away so you can carry on where you were, without the music stopping. With no lives left, the game ends. A finish line marks the end of the level: cross it to complete the level. To practise a tricky section, turn on infinite lives: falling no longer costs a life.
The four difficulties
| Difficulty | What changes |
|---|---|
| Easy | Slow scrolling, at least 0.55 s between platforms, one bonus note to catch roughly every 2 seconds. |
| Normal | Medium speed, at least 0.40 s between platforms, about one bonus note per second. |
| Hard | Fast scrolling, down to 0.30 s apart: nearly every note gets its platform and every bonus note must be caught. |
| Extreme | Another world: spikes to avoid, bonus notes that become platforms and vice versa. Always doable with all PERFECTs. |
Stars
A level's perfect score is the bot's: every platform PERFECT, every bonus note, never breaking the combo. You earn 1 star from 20% of that score, 2 stars at 50% and 3 stars at 85%.
Sound during the game
- You play the music (default): you only hear the notes you land. A missed platform means silence.
- Original music + your notes: the original song plays in the background and every landing adds its note on top.
- Auto listen: every note plays by itself at the right time, to listen to the transcription.
In the settings you can also choose the instrument (a recorded grand piano, or a synth that holds long notes better), the note length and seven separate volume sliders.
Help to improve
- Watch the bot: a robot plays the level perfectly. Great for discovering a hard section.
- The ghost ball: a transparent ball plays alongside you. When it overlaps yours, you are perfectly on the beat.
- Listen to the notes: from the menu, hear the melody the platforms will play before starting.
Your player score
Every completed level earns points based on the chosen difficulty, the difficulty of the song and your accuracy. Your best results make up your player score, which takes you from Beginner to Apprentice (300), Skilled (900), Expert (1,800), Virtuoso (3,000) and finally Legend (4,500).
